Cases
Three conversions we ran on named files.
Each case has an input file, an output file, and a check you can repeat. The sources are controlled and non-real. Observed 30 August 2026. No customer documents are on this page.
Key takeaways
- 3 published cases, all from the same controlled run.
- The workbook kept 8 line items plus TOTAL, numeric -6237.25, and numeric total actual 195132.25.
- The searchable scan kept RX-17, LM-04, PK-91, and TOTAL 152.
- Later requests in that run were blocked when trial credits ran out. That is recorded, not hidden.
Editable brief to a searchable PDF
Input. editable-brief.docx, 37017 bytes. A synthetic workshop brief with no personal information.
Output. synthetic-workshop-brief.pdf, 20460 bytes. The PDF keeps the heading order and the sentinel phrase Cedar-Delta-184.
How to verify. Open both files. Confirm the byte sizes. Search the PDF for Cedar-Delta-184 and for the three task rows Inspect source, Compare output, and Approve structure.
Printed operations table to Excel
Input. complex-quarterly-table.pdf, 3792 bytes. A two-page synthetic operations review with 8 line items plus TOTAL, including variance -6237.25 and total actual 195132.25.
Output. synthetic-operations-review.xlsx, 6053 bytes. Sheet range A1:H10. Eight data rows A-001 through A-008, then a TOTAL row. Cell G6 is numeric -6237.25. Cell F10 is numeric 195132.25. Cell E2 is numeric 39678. Cell E5, the planned value for Safety audit, is blank.
How to verify. Open the PDF and the workbook. Confirm the byte sizes. Check that A-001 through A-008 are still separate rows, that TOTAL sits on row 10, and that -6237.25 and 195132.25 are numbers you can sort, not pictures of numbers.
Image-only receiving sheet to a searchable PDF
Input. image-only-scan.pdf, 114778 bytes. A synthetic receiving sheet with no text layer. The codes that had to survive are RX-17, LM-04, and PK-91.
Output. searchable-receiving-sheet.pdf, 80958 bytes. Text extraction finds RX-17, LM-04, PK-91, and TOTAL 152. A workspace screenshot of that output is 17-scan-output.png, 126434 bytes, 857 by 1109.
How to verify. Open the input PDF and confirm you cannot select the codes as text. Open the output PDF, search for RX-17, LM-04, and PK-91, and confirm TOTAL 152. Compare the screenshot against that output.
What this run does not prove
These files do not prove character-perfect OCR, perfect visual fidelity, or safe reliance on extracted figures without source review. A person still has to compare the output with the page it came from.
FAQ
How to read these cases
Are these customer stories?
No. Every file is a controlled, non-real source we ran ourselves. There are no customer names, emails, or uploaded documents on this page.
Does this prove Papermeld is cell-perfect?
No. These three files show what that run produced. A person still has to compare OCR text, table structure, totals, and formatting against the sources. Character-perfect OCR and lossless conversion are not claimed.
Where are the files?
The three inputs and three outputs live under vertical/docs/evidence/papermeld-20260830/ in the product repository, with the workbook cells and searchable PDF text listed on this page.
What happened after these three conversions?
Later requests in the same run were blocked when the trial credits were exhausted. That is part of the recorded run, not a separate case.
